"More Poems of Love"

MEMORIES OF YOU

Autumn has come around once more,
And so again, I remember
The beautiful time I have lived for -
when you loved me one September.
You may not recall,
For it's been many years.
But, I think of it all
With longing and tears.
How we'd meet at the show,
And hold hands 'til the end.
We are older, I know.
But, I would do it again.
We laughed and we cried,
But, that's all in the past.
For, then your love died -
My first love...and last...

OUR LOVE

A love that’s only been written of,
The kind of which others can only dream.
They pray to find our kind of love –
Passionate, warm, yet pure and clean.

Your gentle words, your shining eyes
Are only a part of the love we share.
Your tender voice and quiet sighs
Are little things that show you care.

When we’re together, all I know
Is how much I love you.
And all that I can hope for
Is that you love me, too.

As long as God is glad for us;
That we should be together,
Then, we know our happiness
And love will last forever

THE EYES HAVE IT

"I love you" – three little words
You never have to say.
I see it written on your smile each and every day.
I hear it singing in your mind
Whenever we’re alone.
And I see it deep within your eyes,
For your eyes shine in my own.

TWO  OF  A KIND

Is it funny if I tell you
That you make me feel like an angel?
Because, nothing can be wrong when I’m with you.
And if nothing is wrong,
Then, that makes this Heaven,
Which kind of makes me an angel – right?
I know you will agree.
Because, we think so much alike – you and I.
People may call us insane.
But, what are people to us?
We have each other.
I understand you,
You understand me,
And we ARE insane.
But, only because we're not like everyone else.
We do not dress conservatively,
And we don’t like football.

LOVE AND A WALK IN THE PARK

Just Nature, God, My Love, and I
Alone in a lovely land.
I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry –
It’s special, just holding your hand.
The wind in the trees is singing a song,
The song I sing in my heart.
So good to be free and walking along
With God and My Love in the park.

FOR EACH OTHER

"I love you" is the silent phrase that sings within my heart
Each time I see your smiling face, or kiss you as we part.
I long to tell you all I feel each time your eyes meet mine.
But, until I know our love is real, my thoughts must be confined.
If you truly feel as I, that we should cherish one another,
Then, no one could dare deny that God had made us
For each other.

ODE TO INNOCENCE OF FIRST LOVE

The love that we share for the rest of our lives
Will only be stronger and warmer
For the Time that has gone between,
Will only be more beautiful
Because we waited.

And when I do give myself to you,
And we are joined as one,
When God looks down upon us
As one body, one heart, and one soul,
Then, we shall have a son –
Born not of lust, but of love.

A son to be tall like you
With a gentle spirit and a strong will.
And we will teach him to be strong,
No matter what the world should do.
We will teach him Christian love,
And that should see him through.

Ode to Innocence of First Love - The Sequel

All I can give you is love
And myself.
But, to me this is everything.
I have saved it for you,
This sacred gift of love,
Never to be cheapened by another,
But made Holy and Perfect with you.
And if you should never come back,
Then, I shall be buried
In a shroud of purest white.

(30 years later, this does sound corny & Victorian.  But, it was sincere at the writing.)
